IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

To our cherished guests and community,

After 8 wonderful years, Doug and I have made the very difficult decision to close The Elephant Bistro & Bar. WE ARE PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

This decision was not made lightly. The past several years have brought many challenges for restaurants everywhere – from changing economic conditions and rising costs to fewer people dining out and fewer people entering or staying in the hospitality workforce.

Despite our best efforts, we have not been able to keep pace with those changes.

What has never changed, though, is the support, joy, and love you’ve brought to our tables. For that, we are forever grateful. The Elephant has always been more than just a restaurant – it has been a gathering place for friends, families, and our community, and we are deeply proud of what we have built together.

It’s not just about serving food, it’s about serving others and sharing with them something I am passionate about.

The journey of The Elephant began with a vision on a napkin and an appetite for a new experience. The pursuit of The Elephant is as large as the animal itself – to provide a unique and entertaining dining experience unlike anything found in Northwest Kansas. Elephants possess remarkable memories and can always be relied upon to lead other animals to food and water. Here at The Elephant, we draw influence from classic French techniques while incorporating cuisines across all cultures. Food will be prepared from fresh, whole ingredients and will focus on eco-friendly products and practices. The Elephant will strive to support local producers and businesses, creating a tight-niche community. Most importantly, The Elephant will focus on you, our guest.

AN ELEPHANT NEVER FORGETS, AND WE HOPE YOU WON'T EITHER.

There is personal meaning behind every element in the restaurant. Every menu item is an adventure and every picture tells a story. As you relax in one of the oldest buildings left in Hoxie, Kansas, you may notice salutes to our past. The tables are made from the wood floors of the apartment that once resided above your head and the bar top was constructed from lanes of the nostalgic Hoxie bowling alley. Aside from the past, The Elephant hopes to create a destination that patrons will continue to migrate to in the future – a space people will come to share in and celebrate with. We hope to provide a timeless atmosphere no one will forget. From the food and drinks to the service and atmosphere, The Elephant will support the local community and will serve as gathering spot for the entire region.
